Collection: Hydro-Static Testing (Re-hydro)
Hydro-Static Testing (hydrotest)
$45.00 per tank. Tanks must have DOT and ISO certified labeling.
** Turn-around time: 7-14 days.
If you are unsure of production date or if the tank is within Hydro date, bring the tank in and we will verify if the tank is within or out of Hydro.,
Hydrostatic testing, also known as a hydrotest, is a method used to certify the safety of compressed air tanks for continued use. The process involves visually inspecting the tanks exterior and interior of the cylinder for damage and then pressurizing it with water to check for leaks or pressure drops.
Frequency:
Compressed air tanks should be tested every 5 years, but may need to be tested more often if they show signs of damage or degradation.
Who can perform the test:
A licensed and certified tank tester and facility must perform the test using special equipment.
How the test is performed:
The tank is filled with water and pressurized to 167% of its maximum operating pressure. The tank and all of its valves must hold the pressure for at least 30 minutes without leaking, bulging and showing no signs of damage.
What the test ensures:
The test ensures that the tank is safe to refill and store, and that it can be filled to the pressures it was originally certified and intended for.
Why the test is important:
The test helps to maintain the safety standards and durability of the tank over time.
