Purpose of the Anti-Reversal Latch
• Prevents reverse gear spin: After a shot, the momentum of the gears can cause them to spin in reverse. The ARL engages with the bevel gear to stop this backward motion.
• Protects the piston and gears: If the gears spin backward, the piston teeth can crash into the sector gear, causing them to strip or break. The ARL stops this from happening, saving your gears from major damage.
• Ensures proper semi-automatic function: By stopping the gears at the end of a cycle, the ARL allows the cutoff lever to engage correctly for semi-automatic fire, preventing the gun from "double-feeding" BBs.
• Allows for safe spring release: The ARL holds the piston back, allowing the user to safely release the spring tension, for example, when disassembling the gearbox.
