Purpose of AEG gears

Enable automatic fire: They facilitate the continuous firing of BBs as long as the trigger is held, a core feature of AEGs.

Allow customization: Gear ratios can be changed to tune the weapon's performance, impacting both rate of fire and the ability to handle stronger springs. 

Benefits of AEG gears

Increased rate of fire (ROF): High-speed gears have a lower ratio (e.g., 13:1 instead of 18:1), meaning the piston completes a cycle in fewer motor revolutions, resulting in a higher number of shots per second.

Increased torque: High-torque gears have a higher ratio, requiring more motor turns per cycle. This provides the strength to compress stronger springs, which is essential for high-powered or sniper-style rifles and helps prevent gear failure under heavy stress.

Durability and efficiency: Upgrading to quality gears, like helical gears with more surface area contact, can improve durability and meshing, while proper shimming ensures efficient energy transfer and reduces strain on the motor.

Compatibility with different power sources: Gears, alongside a motor and battery, are a major factor in determining the gun's overall performance. Players can select gear sets that work best with their chosen battery, such as an 11.1V LiPo battery.
