The Empire AXE Bolt Guide Back Cap Velocity Adjuster (part 73226) allows for fine-tuning adjustment for the paintball marker's velocity (feet per second, or FPS).
Function
The hex screw in the back cap adjusts the tension on the poppet spring (or controls the poppet depth in some versions), which in turn controls the amount of air used to fire the paintball. This allows the user to precisely set the marker's velocity to match field limits (typically around 280-300 FPS when measured with a paintball-specific radar chronograph).
How to Use
• Regulator Pressure Setting: Before adjusting the back cap, the primary regulator at the bottom of the grip frame should be set to the recommended operating pressure (around 180-200 psi).
• Fine Adjustment: Once the main pressure is set, the velocity adjuster is used for minor increases or decreases:
◦ To increase velocity: Unscrew (loosen) the adjustment screw (turn counter-clockwise) in small increments.
◦ To decrease velocity: Screw in (tighten) the adjustment screw (turn clockwise) in small increments.
• Important Note: It is recommended to degas the marker before making adjustments to the back cap, and to always use a chronograph to verify the velocity after any changes. Do not back the screw out past being flush with the cap to avoid air leaks.
** This will not fit the Empire MINI, MINI GS, AXE 2.0, or AXE Pro.
