The HK45 was designed to meet requirements set forth in the U.S. Military Joint Combat Pistol program, which aimed to arm the U.S. Military with a .45 ACP semi-automatic pistol instead of the 9mm M9 pistol. The program was suspended indefinitely in 2006, and the M9 pistol remained the standard-issue handgun for the U.S. Military.

The HK45 is a highly sought-after pistol that uses the KWA System7. The gas efficiency is superb, and the bb travel is consistent. The gun is extremely ergonomic and feels great in your hand, the back strap is removable, and the gun comes with one spare. On single action, the trigger is longer and heavier, but it's smooth; with the hammer down, the trigger is short, and the reset is clean and easily felt. The gun is compatible with standard lights and lasers that fit on the bottom accessory rail and uses standard green gas or propane.
