The main benefits of the Retro Arms POM Piston with 9 Steel Teeth are its durability and performance in high-stress, fast-cycling builds like DSG (Dual Sector Gear) setups. The piston features a reinforced, injection-molded body made of POM (polyoxymethylene), which is also enriched with carbon fiber and molybdenum for added strength and lower friction. Its 9-tooth steel rack is CNC-machined, heat-treated, and optimized with a shaved final tooth to improve the angle of engagement (AOE) and reduce wear.

Durability and strength

Reinforced body: The POM (polyoxymethylene) body is reinforced with molybdenum, which increases its resistance to wear and breakage.

CNC-machined steel rack: The 9-tooth rack is made of heat-treated steel, designed to be strong, wear-resistant, and durable enough for high-stress applications.

Improved structure: The piston's body shape has been reworked and reinforced to prevent failure.

Performance and efficiency

Optimized gear engagement: The final tooth is shaved to improve the angle of engagement, which reduces premature wear on both the piston and the gear.

Low friction: The molybdenum content in the POM body is designed to lower friction, which can lead to improved performance and efficiency.

Compatibility: It is designed for use with standard AEG gearboxes and is particularly well-suited for high-speed Dual Sector Gear (DSG) builds.

Reduced maintenance

Dry use compatibility: The molybdenum content in the piston body allows for dry use (no lubrication), which prevents the plastic from degrading from oil or grease contamination. (Grease on the steel rack is still recommended)

Increased lifespan: The combination of wear-resistant materials and a design optimized for less stress leads to a longer lifespan for the piston.
