Universal Unified Tank Burst Disc - Brass

The purpose of a Universal Unified Tank Burst Disc is to act as a safety device that prevents a tank or regulator from exploding due to over-pressurization. If the internal pressure exceeds a pre-set limit, the disc is designed to rupture, releasing the gas or liquid in a controlled manner through side holes, which prevents the tank itself from failing catastrophically.

How it works

Under normal pressure: The burst disc remains intact, providing a leak-tight seal.

When over-pressurized: If the pressure reaches the disc's rated burst pressure, a pre-scored or weaker point on the disc will break.

Pressure release: The disc ruptures, allowing the contents of the tank to escape through holes on opposite sides of the disc. This stops the pressure from building further.

Safety mechanism: This prevents the tank or regulator from failing violently and protects nearby people and equipment.

Where it's used

CO2 tanks: Typically use a 3,000 PSI disc.

Compressed air tanks: Often have two discs: a lower-pressure disc (e.g., 1,800 PSI) to vent if the regulator malfunctions, and a higher-pressure disc (e.g., 5,000 or 7,500 PSI) to vent if the tank itself is over-pressurized.
