The WGP Autococker beavertail prevents the cocking rod from hitting the user's face and stops the back block from damaging the user's mask or lens during operation. It also serves as an anti-tamper device, preventing players from trying to increase velocity by "thumping" or manually hitting the cocking rod to gain more power. 

Primary functions

• Protects the face/lens: The beavertail's physical shape extends from the back of the marker to create a barrier, stopping the back block and cocking rod from forcefully hitting the user's face or their mask's lens during the firing cycle.

• Prevents velocity tampering: By blocking the back block's rearward movement, it prevents users from "thumping" the cocking rod to gain velocity, which can be a form of cheating. 

Secondary function

• Increases comfort: By preventing the harsh impact of the cocking rod, the beavertail helps to make the marker more comfortable to use, especially in situations where the user's hand is close to the rear of the marker.
